Agenda: Addressing the Militarization of Artificial Intelligence and Its Impact on Global Technological Development

Committee Email: cstd@ratobangala.edu.np

The focus of this committee is on how artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly being used in military technology, and what that means for global peace, development, and innovation. In recent years, many countries have started using AI for defense purposes—such as autonomous drones, robotic weapons, satellite-guided systems, and cyber warfare tools. These developments are raising serious questions about ethics, control, and the future of science and technology. Countries with advanced AI capabilities are investing heavily in military applications, which may shift global scientific research away from peaceful innovation. At the same time, developing nations are concerned that the rapid rise of military AI will deepen the global technological gap, making it harder for them to access peaceful technology for education, healthcare, and agriculture. Delegates will need to think about whether the world should regulate military uses of AI, and how we can protect scientific progress from being misused or monopolized. On the second day, the committee will face a major turning point in the form of a crisis.

The Executive Board

Chair

Nilaksh Khetan

Smart, observant, and quietly witty, Nilaksh may come off as the silent type, but he’s the kind of person who’s always thinking, always noticing, and always ready with a clever comeback when it truly matters. While he might take a moment to process the chaos of everyday gossip or banter, the second you’re in a debate with him, he switches gears, countering every point with precision and confidence. But Nilaksh isn't just about intellect and comebacks. He brings a unique kind of humor into every room. He’s known for his signature string of confused “huhs” that somehow never fail to make everyone laugh. A great listener, always grounded, always present, Nilaksh is someone you can count on, whether it’s to win a motion or just sit beside you in silence when you need it most, says his vice-chair.

Vice-Chair

Eurika RajBhandari

Don’t let the pastel cardigans and snacks-in-her-bag energy fool you. Eurika may be the sweetheart mom of the group, but when the debate heats up, she does not miss. Equal parts, quirky charm and ruthless logic, she’s the one comforting you after committee and the one who just absolutely destroyed your resolution, professionally, of course. Yu’ll catch her with color-coded notes, a warm smile, and diplomacy sharp enough to cut steel. And if you’re lucky enough to land on her good side, you might just be treated to her signature baked goods and the kind of care that makes everyone feel like family.

Moderator

Nishith Banskota

Nishith is the kind of moderator who brings both ease and energy into the room. He doesn’t need to raise his voice to take control. His calm confidence does that on its own. He knows when to let debates flow and when to step in with just the right push to keep things sharp. He’s known for a bit of chaos, a lot of chill, and a sense of humor that somehow makes even tense moments feel lighter. His committee will not be just about rules and resolutions; it will be about real conversations, unexpected moments, and keeping everyone on their toes (in the best of ways).
