About the Committee

Agenda: “Addressing protracted conflicts through historical legacies, proxy warfare, border militarization, and the role of non-state actors”

Committee Email: disec@ratobangala.edu.np

DISEC at RBSMUN 2025 delves into the heart of today’s most persistent global threats, protracted conflicts rooted in historical legacies, exacerbated by proxy warfare, reinforced through border militarization, and complicated by the growing influence of non-state actors. As wars span decades, driven by unresolved colonial divisions, ideological power struggles, and foreign interference, this committee empowers delegates to unravel the deeper causes of instability. DISEC calls for creative diplomacy and actionable solutions, whether through demilitarization strategies, regulating foreign influence, or dismantling the systems that enable non-state groups to thrive. This is a platform where history and security intersect, where delegates are challenged to go beyond temporary ceasefires and address the underlying causes of conflict. In DISEC, your resolutions won’t just address the present; they’ll shape the path to global peace.

The Executive Board

Chair

Naman Rajgadia

Naman is what happens when you blend sharp policy instincts with the energy of a caffeine-fueled stand-up comic and just a hint of Iron Man swagger. He’s a guy who can seamlessly switch from quoting UN charters to quoting XXXX, all while adjusting the speaker’s time and roasting delegates (lovingly, of course) mid-unmod with a grin. One moment he’s tossing around diplomatic jargon like it’s confetti, the next he’s casually dropping movie references and managing crises like it’s just another Tuesday. With a resume stacked with awards, speeches, and more alliances than NATO, Naman walks into a room and instantly makes it feel like a grand session of Parliament (with slightly more memes). With a mind wired for international affairs and a heart wired for inclusivity, he ensures every delegate finds their voice, whether they aew a first-timer or a seasoned resolution machine. In DISEC this year, get ready for fiery debates, uncontrollable laughter, and the occasional Marvel reference thrown in with diplomatic flair. With Naman at the helm, this isn’t just a committee; it’s an experience. He’s not just leading DISEC, he’s flipping the script on what a committee can be: part UN, part adrenaline rush, part masterclass in diplomacy.

Vice-Chair

Abhilasha Gorkhalee

Poise? Check. Perfection? Check. A terrifying competence at administrative work? Also check. With Abhilasha as your Vice-Chair, you’re in for possibly the best run committee sessions there will be. I’d tell you to buckle up, but it isn’t going to be a bumpy ride—not at all, when Abhilasha is there to smoothen things out. All the same, do work hard; she hates a slacker. Abhilasha’s quest for perfectionism has led to many a torn out page in her copy, a pencil case full of colour-assorted pens, and pristinely written notes. No blustery arguments or poorly written paperwork will there be in the committee; she won’t stand for that. She won’t be voluble about any mistakes you’re making, but rest assured that she will notice them, as she will your accurate facts and well-made points. Her need for flawlessness will extend to the committee; she’ll be a friendly face in the dais, no doubt, but do not think for a moment that you’ll sweet talk points out of her. May the best delegate win. Outside of the committee, she’s a veritable social butterfly, fluttering over to friends and teachers alike with a beaming smile on her face and an easy-going remark on the tip of her tongue. She’s a great listener when you have grievances to air, and you’d best believe she puts that Psychology-student knowledge to good use when it comes to cheering her friends up. Be sure to have a chat with her for an infallible curly hair routine if your curls haven’t been looking their best. And hey, enjoy the committee sessions themselves, send your chits, and trust that your hard work has been noticed—Abhilasha’s going to make sure of it.

A natural mentor, Sonal has a gift for guiding people without ever making them feel small. With her on the committee, you’re guaranteed a leader who lifts others with clarity, wit, and just the right amount of tough love. Whether she’s breaking down complex ideas or hyping someone up before a big moment, she’s the calm in chaos and the spark behind the scenes. Driven, outspoken, and endlessly ambitious, Sonal doesn’t just chase success; she builds it, loud, proud, and entirely her own.
