Secretary General

Aditya Raj

Confident and charismatic, Aditya Raj has set the standard for MUNs at Rato Bangala. He may seem like a boisterous, smart alec at first, but once you get to know him, you’ll find someone extremely mature, ridiculously intelligent, and sometimes even funny. He is someone you can always count on to help with anything. Aditya can look intimidating, but in reality, he’s just an easygoing guy who surprisingly loves matcha giving whatever he does his 100%. His effort, dedication, and sheer love towards MUN has always set him apart as a delegate. Before every MUN, you could always find him deep in research, trying to learn every small detail and nuance of the agenda. And during the conference? He is enthusiastic, more than well-informed of everything, and has this magnetic quality of speaking which makes everyone simply listen. He leaves no room for mediocrity when it comes to Model UN. There is not much difference between Aditya in the committee versus Aditya in his daily life. The way he speaks, eloquent and concise, never leaves any room for boredom. He is laid-back, self-assured, and competent in every aspect. His witty intelligence and natural affability make him both a good friend, and an exemplary Secretary General.

Deputy Secretary General

Lavanyaa Nepal

Model UN participations both as delegate and chair, and now as the DSG, distinctions in the World Economics Cup, Parliamentary debates, gliding through A-level Chemistry, and balancing A-level Further Mathematics as an additional subject. She can do it all, not to mention her mesmerizing dance performances and pleasant (slightly awkward) singing.

Oh, and kid you not, she doesn't just participate in a wide array of activities and competitions—she excels as well. With numerous delegate awards and chairing experiences, having gotten into the national WSDC camp in just grade 9, and currently acing all her academics, this DSG of yours can do it all. But there's much more to this small but mighty presence; there's much more happening beneath all these A-tier activities and awards. Beneath it all is a very sweet girl who can't help but laugh and smile in awkward situations (she can't bring herself to tell people off!).

Beneath the scary, well-earned mask of a debater and MUNer, there's just a talkative, gossip-hungry everyday teenager. One who's constantly in search of new tea and more beans to be spilled. But this is what really balances out her personality. She may come off as super assertive in tournaments and conferences, but she's more often than not the most indecisive one in the room. Her scary arguments may mislead you into thinking she's unsociable, but all she's looking for in informal settings is a nice, long talk. She may also seem like a very strict and serious person, but again, she's just a very thoughtful soul.

In Lavanyaa's delightful presence, you will learn how this obviously 6 ft tall high schooler balances extracurriculars, academics, friends, family, and life as a whole, without breaking a single sweat. And p.s., it's Lavanyaa, not Lavanya (Mess up her name, and then you’ll see the scary, assertive, and not-so nice version of your DSG).

Deputy Secretary General

Aakarsh Shrestha

Aakarsh is the perfect example of the type of individual MUNs aim to produce: determined, diplomatic, and steadfast. Whether it is the restaurant shopkeeper who is absolutely unwilling to give us a discount or the PE teacher who is adamant about not giving us a football to play airball with, Aakarsh’s ability to move even the most intransigent people is truly enviable. Aakarsh has a set of morals that he follows dutifully, and anybody: friends, family and most definitely a delegate who goes too far will receive a prompt earful from him.

A wonderful orator, no public-speaking stage is too big for Aakarsh: he can probably walk onto a red carpet at the launch of a movie he knows nothing about and talk absolute waffle, but with so much conviction that the interviewer has no doubt that Aakarsh is the director of the film by the end. Aakarsh is also a fiercely loyal friend: he is someone you can definitely count on when needed.

Another quite envious quality of Aakarsh’s seems to be the fact that no criticism can ever get to him. He truly does not care about your opinion, and if you do put your points across in a logical fashion, he will always come up with better arguments that deems yours worthless.

Good luck trying to be too smart, delegates, because believe me you are going to need it. Test it out for yourselves: try being a little cheeky during committee sessions, and don’t be surprised when you find yourself stranded outside the room with your ears still ringing after that admonition. Aakarsh is a calming influence, and that’s what makes him so suitable for his role as Deputy Secretary General at RBSMUN XX. In Aakarsh, delegates can expect a resolute figure who radiates authority and demands respect, and will call anybody out on their bunkum.
