Agenda: Strengthening International Cooperation for Conflict Prevention and Climate-Resilient Strategies to Mitigate Refugee Crises

Committee Email: unhcr@ratobangala.edu.np

This agenda focuses on how the international community can work together to prevent both man-made and climate-related conflicts that force people to flee their homes. By promoting early intervention, peacebuilding, and conflict-sensitive environmental strategies, countries can reduce displacement caused by war, droughts, floods, and other climate-driven crises. The goal is to protect vulnerable populations and build long-term resilience to future challenges.

The Executive Board

Chair

Grishma Rana

Loud, opinionated, and unapologetically self-righteous, Grishma is a force you won’t forget. Her life is a study in contrasts. Her idea of a good time is either losing herself in a crowded party filled with blaring music and horrible dancing or reading Virginia Woolf by candlelight on a rainy evening. She’s a self-proclaimed writer with a deep love of poetry, yet she still rushes to biology practicals, eager to dissect the next goat heart thrown her way. A textbook Gemini, some might call her two-faced, but she prefers the term “adaptable.” Above all, she values chaos and fun. Thus, during committee sessions, embrace the disorder, enjoy the ride, and remember to learn, laugh, and always respect the art of diplomacy.

Vice-Chair

Kevin Jung Thapa

Soft-spoken but sharp-witted, Kevin is the kind of person who doesn’t shout to be heard. He’s a paradox wrapped in diplomacy. A thrill-seeking soul bound by protocol or just a chill guy quietly observing the chaos, he’s the type of vice-chair only the most seasoned of delegates can digest. Well… maybe not that last part. Though composed, he come alives when the debate turns heated, leaning in with calm intensity as the room sparks around him. But beyond the sharp questions, he’s also whimsical one, the kind of person who tries to spark some laughter between clauses or sessions or nods along to a bold speech like it’s poetry. Welcome to UNHCR, and try to keep up.

Moderator

Prasiddhika Shrestha

Prasiddhika carries a kind of quiet that doesn’t beg for attention; it invites it, slowly, like the way dusk settles before you notice the stars. She moves with a grace that feels effortless, as if she knows the rhythm of a room before the music even starts. People think she’s extroverted, and maybe she is, in the way that rivers look still on the surface but run deep and fast underneath. Get close enough, though, and the stillness shifts. She laughs not loudly but fully, with a warmth that spills into the spaces between words. Her way of talking shifts easily: one minute she’s sharing something thoughtful, the next she’s teasing with a sly smile, as if she’s letting you in on a secret but also daring you to keep up. Being around her feels like a mix of deep conversations and lighthearted moments, during which you never quite know what she’ll say next, but you’re glad she said it. There’s a subtle mystery to her, not because she’s hiding, but because she lets you in little by little — like when you find a favorite song you want to listen to again and again, and each time it feels a bit different.
