Agenda: Red Sea Crisis (2025)
Committee Email: unsc@ratobangala.edu.np
Began in October 2023 when the Houthi movement in Yemen launched missiles and armed drones at Israel for their invasion of Gaza. Since then they have seized and launched aerial attacks against dozens of merchant and naval vessels in the Red Sea. This conflict is related to the invasion of Gaza and multiple proxy wars in the Middle East.
The Executive Board
President
Shuvani Singh
A history-loving cinephile, Shuvani is the quintessential “beauty with brains.” With an incredible trove of filmy and historical facts, she’ll leave you stunned (and sometimes caught off guard) by the sheer volume of knowledge she drops into casual conversations. Her intellect, matched with her wit and amiable personality, makes her a delightful person to talk to.
Shuvani is famous for being early to everything. She’s the type of person to show up 2 hours early and genuinely wonder why everyone else isn’t already there. Thus, if you’re in her committee, punctuality isn’t just appreciated; it’s expected.
While she may be strict on time, she is otherwise a fun-loving person. She will crack jokes that fly right over your head (while she herself is busy laughing at them) and will always be down to have some fun
(MOE guaranteed).
Independent and self-assured, Shuvani means serious business during MUNs. Thus, while she might look like the sweetest of souls, as president of the UNSC, she is a formidable leader who’ll run the UN’s most powerful body with nothing but confidence. Rest assured, delegates, she will make your committee very memorable.
Vice-President
Prasiddha Mainali
Prasiddha Mainali. You either love him or you hate him—there is no in between.
Whether acing every single test or exam at record writing speed, obliterating entire teams on the floor of a debate, singing any song of any tune of any genre, or performing the most graceful dance possible by a male, this man does it all.
Underneath a self-confident exterior lies a genius mind and a heart of gold, for Prasiddha is truly one of a kind and quite possibly the best candidate for the position of a vice -president. Thus, delegates, be prepared for a session of absolute excellence under Prasiddha's able jurisdiction. Expect every motion to be met with precision, every crisis to be handled with flair, and every delegate to feel challenged and inspired.
With Prasiddha on the dais, mediocrity doesn’t stand a chance.
Moderator
Ayushri Pant
Meet Ayushri Pant, extrovert extraordinaire, The friend who will make sure the most terrible day at school ends with a smile, she's the kind to be found at the centre of a seven-person group, holding individual conversations with everyone present and not missing a beat.
As the moderator, Ayushri's bound to put her knack for pinpointing minute details to good use. Personal pronouns? She'll pounce on them before the misstep even crosses a delegate’s mind. Awarding points? Don't be fooled by her friendly grin: she'll be a ruthlessly fair adjudicator and will definitely not dole out points for free. If you’ve played a round of UNO with her, you know exactly how strictly she enforces rules; just watch her no-nonsense attitude ramp up during committee sessions. If you’re struggling, though, you can always ask her for help. She won’t look down on you—well, she might, but that's just because of her height.
You have to envy anyone who's found themselves in the same committee as Ayushri; she'll put you at ease even as you plunge headlong into three days of gruelling committee sessions. All's fun when she's around!
